It is easier to fall in love with the man in the photograph than it is to love the man who desperately wants your affection. Because, when all that is around you looks gray, dark and broken, the man in the photograph makes everything look beautiful, even if he is crying too.

It is true, it is disheartening. I wonder how past patients felt about this place though, whether it held this beauty when it was a place smothered in both hope and hopelessness.

I miss bubbles, too. I walked past a toy shop that had a bubble machine outside the other day. You know, the people most excited about them were adults while the kids kept saying “Come onnnnnnn Mum, this is boring!”
